And I knew I had to do something with it. Draw it, paint it, whatever. I LOVE the original photo. It. Is. Amazing.
I chose to make a painting, since I had this canvas lying around and felt like using it. It's done with acrylic paint, since I already had those, plus I'm getting used to them by now.
I painted it a bit different though. Black on white in stead of white on black ... and also, I worked with layers in a way which I don't usually do. It was fun, and I learned a lot.
Original piece is 90x30 cm, which is why the quality of this particular picture may not be so good; I had to scan it in sections and then try to put them together in Photoshop. In real life, though, this painting actually makes me smile.
In the article in Kerrang, it said that the photos were taken by Paul Harries, Chris Casey and MCR. So one of them should get credit for the original picture (which is gorgeous). Hail to whoever took it!
You are right it was an amazing photo (i have that copy of Kerrang!) and you certainly did it justice!! Seriously, its amazing!! I love the blank space you left at the top, rather than cramming a picture into the whole canvas. I especially like the way you painted his shoes and guitar, you got talent!!
I got that Kerrang- and I have to say, you have done so much justice to the photo. This is so beautiful. You have no idea how much I look to your stuff to inspire me- and fuck, I'm inspired right now. Jesus...
Stunning, as usual. You make me want to paint until I'm as good as you.
