Silver clay things - February by ihni Silver clay things - February by ihni
This is the last batch of things I made with silver clay, in the end of February. A couple of pendants ...

*beware of shameless self-promotion*

... which can be found on Etsy, here: [link]

The anatomically correct (well ... sort of) heart - my personal favourite, by the way - and the Tree of life are sold already. Before they even got to Etsy. :S

I actually made two more trees, and they sold as well. I never even have time to put them online. Will have to buy more silver clay.

The swirly heart and the Tree of life also contains a clear zircon.

Anyway, I'm rather pleased with these. I'm learning. :p

The anatomically correct heart is also my favourite :D. I love stuff that isn't bog standard.

... of course, everything here looks lovely, I just have to keep staring at that heart! Are you keeping any pendants for yourself?

I suppose so, at least the ones that doesn't sell! :D Which they don't seem to be doing, so ... yeah. They're bound to be christmas gifts to everyone I know, or something =p

Yeah, your stuff goes away like that *snaps fingers*! Even if it's not on Etsy yet you sell it anyway :-) - I'm in awe.

If I were you I'd make myself a BIG anatomically correct heart as a keyring pendant or something.

Good idea, but then I'd have to make it with something other than silver clay. That thing is so expensive it's SILLY.

Would you have to make it hollow or filled with silver clay?

I could make it hollow, but it would still take quite a lot of clay ... I mean, only 25 grams is like ... 46 euros, plus shipping. And 25 grams is not a lot :S I wish I was rich.

I adore the heart, it's so detailed. The tree reminds me of the Lord of the Rings movies as it almost seems to have a fantasy-like feeling, :) Great job!

those look really great! even though I'm not much into wearing necklaces, I could totally see myself walking around with the top left one:D how much time does it usually take you to create one of them?

Well, the MAKING itself doesn't take long ... the clay will dry up in like half an hour, so one has to be quick when working with it. So the design must be pretty well planned before one starts. Then it must dry for a while (how long depends on how thick it is), then burned ... Then brushed and polished. It doesn't really take an awful lot of time, actually.

I remember searching on google for this silver clay when you posted your first tries but then I thought "naah, that's too expensive.. what happens when it doesn't work out as plannend, etc." but now I'm tempted again:D they really look great!

You really should try it ... see if there's a course or something close by where you can try it without having to buy everything you need. That way, you can try it and see if it's something you wanna continue doing. Here's a link ( [link] ) that's going through pretty much everything you need to know. Of course, there's a lot of text which is boring, so again; a try-it-yourself course might be a good idea. :P

I checked for courses but as far as I could see, they didn't offer anything with silver clay:/ most of them had something with glass pearls or other metals but nothing that sounded similar to this kind of work. But I'm gonna keep looking.. I also saved the link, thank you for that! But the next thing I wanted to do was a Finnish course anyway, so it's ok if I can't try out the silver clay immediately:)
