I have been so inspired by Merimask lately.

"Who is Merimask?", you might ask. And if you do, I'll answer "This, this is Merimask: :iconmerimask: - behold the awesomeness!"

She makes the most amazing leather masks, the greatest things I've ever seen. And, as usual when it comes to something creative that I get inspired by but haven't tried yet, I had to try and make one myself.

So, with the help of her instructions (it's really amazing how she shares her technique with the rest of us like she does), I managed to make this mask.

A skull mask. SOOO original, I know. *rolls eyes* Everyone and their GRANDMOTHER are doing skull masks ... but hey. I was too lazy to look for the other colours, and I had white and black lying around so ... a skull it was! :D

I just don't know what to do with it, now that it's done. Halloween is so far away ...

Oh well, guess I'll move onto something else now. At least I've tried it. :)

Hmm, I like skulls. And just so you know, I've never made a skull mask before (any kind of mask, actually). But this one is very cool, I like the teeth and the angry look around his... eye sockets :-).

What material is this? Cardboard?

Eheh, in case you can't wait for Halloween you could wear this mask the next time someone rings on your door after 6pm :D.

He heh, I totally should. Maybe I will! And I'll blame any heart attacks it causes on you, who made me do it!

And it's leather, actually. Very thick leather, which is treated in water, then shaped, then dried, put in the oven to dry even more ... then painted and varnished. :p

Leather???? Wow, looks really cool! I read that she (... forgot her name... merimask?) makes her masks out of leather, but somehow I didn't make the connection to this mask :D.

Ok, but in that case you should make sure you're not scaring off some old granny who just came by to tell you that she's looking for her cat :D.
